01 / YOUR RECIPE
From ingredients to servings
This fictional example demonstrates the tool. Replace the values with those of your own products.
Use values per 100 g. For labels per 100 ml, first convert the amount using the product density or find values per 100 g.
02 / RESULT FROM YOUR INPUTS
One serving
kcal
- Protein
- Fat
- Carbs
This is an estimate based on your inputs. Calories use the kcal field independently of macros. Label rounding, fibre and other components can cause differences.
What about the rest of your day?
Log your meal in Herodicus. See your daily totals and, if you have a plan, compare it with what you actually eat.
Open the food diaryAn account and manual diary are free. AI features use credits or a subscription under the in-app offer. Copy this result and enter it into the diary yourself.
03 / A PRACTICAL GUIDE
How to calculate calories in a homemade meal
List ingredients and weights
Write down the amount of each ingredient used. Include oil, butter, sauces and toppings you eat. Use the label of your actual product. Do not treat the example numbers as values for your meal.
Match the weight to the right nutrition values
Use dry rice values with dry rice weight, and cooked rice values with cooked rice weight. Water can change the weight during cooking. Do not combine cooked weight with dry-product values. If some sauce or oil stays in the pan, the amount actually eaten remains uncertain.
Calculate the whole recipe, then a serving
For each ingredient: weight in grams × kcal per 100 g ÷ 100. Add all ingredient results. Divide the total by the number of equal servings. Use the same method for protein, fat and carbs. Unequal servings do not have the same result.
Keep a record you can use again
Copy the result and keep the ingredient weights. Recalculate when ingredients or amounts change. The calculator does not keep entries after refreshing the page. Use the app diary for meal history.
Why is a macro result missing?
An empty field means unknown, not zero. If one ingredient has no protein value, we cannot show a complete protein total. The same applies to fat and carbs. Enter 0 only when supported by the product data.
Can a photo give an exact result?
A photo does not show every quantity or hidden ingredient. The app AI can help estimate, but check ingredients and portions. This calculator works with the values you enter yourself.
